Stavromenos Villas
The Stavromenos Villas are 3 comfortable holiday homes on a slope above the bay of ▶ Rethymnon in the western half of the island of ▶ Crete.

The two smaller villas each have 80 square meters of dwelling space and 5 beds. The bigger villa has 95 square meters of dwelling space and 6 beds.
The living rooms cover satellite color TV sets, DVD and CD players, and open fireplaces. Each villa has ADSL WLAN internet access (WiFi).
All bedrooms have separate air conditioning units. In each living room there is also a convertible sofa which on demand will serve as an additional accommodation.

The kitchen equipment is modern and very comprehensive. It includes electric hobs with 4 rings, ovens, microwave ovens, and integrated refrigerators/freezers.
Seawards, there is one private garden in front of each living room, each garden covering a sun terrace and a 23 square meters swimming pool.
Views range far over the bay and the sea, over the town and the port of Rethymnon, and towards Cape Drapanon as well as to the White Mountains.
The nearest sandy beach is a 1,000 meters footwalk away.

▶ Stavromenos is one of the villages in the eastern part of the bay of ▶ Rethymnon. There are several supermarkets, a butcher's abd a baker's shop, tavernas, kafenions and several other shops.
The 3 Stavromenos Villas have been built on a terraced slope aside the village, and completed in springtime, 2006.

The New National Road from Rethymnon (12 kms) to ▶ Heraklion (71 kms) runs between the village and the beach.
There is an hourly public bus service in both directions, during the summer season every 30 minutes.
Down here there are also several bigger hotels, and during the tourism season a variety of shops and restaurants are open.
Heraklion airport is 79 kms away, ▶ Chania airport 82 kms.
With respect to the winding character of the motor highway, transfer times from and to the airports must not be underestimated.

The two-storey row-house villas are mostly built from natural stone. On the sea side they have private gardens which are separated from each other by walls.
The gardens and the foregarden have lawns, flowers and other ornamental plants.
Furthermore, the 8,000 sqm areal has many olive trees as well as some apricot and fig-trees.

In front of each living room there is a terrace with garden furniture.
Sunshades and deck chairs are available by the swimming pools, and each villa also has a barbecue facility.
In each garden there is a swimming pool of 23 sqm size (operated from April till November). The shallow section in each swimming pool is 90 centimeters deep, the maximum depth is 1.60 meters.

The main entrance is located on the west front. On the north side there is the Aegean Sea and the private swimming pool which is framed by lawns.

Indoor
The living area on the ground floor includes the living room with couch set and open fireplace, and the dining area with an integrated open-plan kitchen.
On the ground floor there are also two bedrooms, one of them with a double bed and the other one with a single bed.
Both are located towards the sea and share one balcony.

A bathroom with a bath tub is located on the ground floor as well.
On the top floor there is a third bedroom with a double bed and sea view. It has a separate shower bathroom.
This bedroom also has windows on the north side towards the sea, and another window on the west side with views of the town, the port and the bay of ▶ Rethymnon, and of the White Mountains.
In the living room there is a convertible sofa which on demand serves as a sixth accommodation (against surcharge).
Outdoor
Wide glass sliding doors at the sea front of the living room open towards a terrace. From there, some steps lead down to the garden.

As the areal slightly ascends towards the East, the terrace in front of the living room however is only one step above the garden level.

All bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes and separate air conditioning units which can be switched to heating mode during chilly nights or in wintertime.
The living rooms are equipped with satellite color TV sets, DVD and CD players, and open fireplaces. Firewood is available (except during the high summer).
Washing machines and hair dryers are located in the bathrooms, irons and boards are available as well.

Furthermore, there is a First-aid kit and a safe deposit box in each villa, as well as ADSL WLAN internet access (WiFi).
Solar water heating with auxiliary electric heating. Both water and electricity (also for the air conditioning units) are included in the rates.
Rooms cleaning as well as change of sheets and towels twice per week.
A baby cot and a high chair will be prepared on request.
The swimming pools are operated from April till November.

The kitchens are equipped with the essential pots and pans, plates and dishes, cutlery and glassware. Furthermore they have integrated refrigerators/freezers, electric hobs with 4 rings, bake ovens, extractor fans, microwave ovens, coffee-makers, electric kettles, and toasters.
Each villa has a barbecue facility with a pergola, dining table and chairs.
Supermarkets, shops of many kind and restaurants for any taste and budget can be found everywhere along the bay, and all-year in the city of ▶ Rethymnon.

The nearest LIDL market with a rich choice of budget local as well as imported foodstuffs is located in the village of Tsesmes by the highway (7 kms).
Popular restaurants and tavernas in and around Stavromenos are i.a.:
▶ Taverna Kechagias by the western village border of ▶ Stavromenos is open all year round and offers a variety both of starters ("mezedes") and other dishes.
▶ Taverna Levantes by the eastern end of ▶ Adelianos Campos, the largest hotel suburb of Rethymnon, has a particularly extensive menu.
The BBQ restaurant ▶ Mr. Gyros also in Adelianos Campos, but at the western end of the village: the name says it all, but the escalope gypsy style here also has a good reputation.
In addition to international cuisine, the ▶ Taverna Kellari in the neighboring village of ▶ Platanias also has a bar where you can meet many of the foreigners based here.
The ▶ SkyPark also in Platanias includes not only a very popular garden restaurant, but also a grill with delivery service and a cafe.
The Tavernas Romeo and Juliet in the inland village of Hamalevri and To Spiti tou Pouliou in the village of ▶ Asteri just behind are also easily accessible from Stavromenos.

On the more than 15 kms long sandy beach that lines the bay of ▶ Rethymnon there are plenty of sports and watersports on offer.

Bars, discotheques and a colourful nightlife can be found along the bay es well, and all-year in the picturesque Venetian old town of Rethymnon.
As the villas are not too far away from the nearest entrance to the New National Road, from here the whole West of ▶ Crete reveals itself for exploration.
